Dayletter Privacy Policy
Up Coast Digital Products, Inc.
Last updated: October 23, 2026
Dayletter is made by Up Coast Digital Products, Inc. ("Up Coast", "we", "us"), a company in British Columbia, Canada. This policy describes the personal information the Dayletter iOS app collects, where it is stored, who it is shared with, and how you can export or delete it.
1. Information you record
Dayletter stores the entries you record (symptoms and their severity, exercise, diet changes, medication doses, daily context, check-ins and notes), transcripts of what you say, the patterns the app identifies, and the background you write for your doctor's report. This is health information.
Dayletter has no account and we operate no server for it. Your entries are stored on your device, protected by the device's encryption. If iCloud is enabled for Dayletter, they are also stored in your private iCloud database to sync between your devices and restore to a new device. That database is held by Apple under its terms and is not accessible to us. Dayletter also keeps weekly backup copies on your device.
2. Speech
Dayletter uses your device's speech recognition to convert what you say to text. Where your device and language support it, recognition happens on the device. Where they do not, iOS sends the audio to Apple's speech recognition service under Apple's terms; we do not receive it. Dayletter does not store audio recordings.
The text is converted into entries on your device, using Apple's on-device models or Dayletter's own rules. It is not sent to us or to any third party.
Requests made through Siri are processed by Apple under its terms.
3. Apple Health
With your permission, Dayletter writes entries to Apple Health: headaches and other aches with their severity, and exercise sessions. It does not read data from Apple Health. Apple Health data is not sent to us, used for advertising, shared or sold. You may turn this off in Dayletter's settings or in your device's Settings, under Health.
4. Notifications
With your permission, Dayletter schedules the check-in reminders you choose, and a reminder before a free trial ends, on your device.
5. Subscription information
Apple processes every payment. We never see your card or bank details. RevenueCat confirms whether your subscription is active. It receives your purchase history and a random identifier for the app installation. It does not receive your name, email address or recorded entries. RevenueCat's privacy policy governs the information it holds.
6. Service providers
Personal information is handled only by Apple (App Store, payments, iCloud, speech recognition not performed on the device, Siri and Apple Health) and RevenueCat (subscription status). Both may process information outside Canada, including in the United States. We may disclose information where required by law; the only information we hold is the purchase record.
Dayletter does not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, photos or advertising identifiers, and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking software. We do not sell personal information.
7. Export and deletion
- Export: Settings, then Export, produces a CSV or JSON file of all your entries.
- Deletion: you may delete entries in the app. Deleting the app deletes the information it stored on your device. To delete the iCloud copy, open your device's Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Storage, and delete Dayletter's data.
- Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription; cancel it in your device's Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions.
8. Your rights
You may ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and withdraw your consent, wherever you live. Send requests to apps at upcoast dot ca. We respond within 30 days.
We are subject to Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you live outside Canada, you may also have rights under the law of your country, including the right to complain to its privacy regulator.
9. Children
Dayletter is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
10. Security
Information Dayletter stores on your device is protected by the device's encryption. Information the app sends is encrypted in transit. If a breach of our security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change affects how we use information we already hold, we will give notice in the app before the change takes effect.
